Cead Mile Failte Slate Art

Splate Cead Mile Failte Slate Art $29.95

Cead Mile Failte Slate Art. The traditional Gaelic greeting, which is pronounced 'kayad meela foilcha' and means 'a hundred thousand welcomes.' The Celts respect the significance of the welcome as a threshold or rite of passage. Among Celts there is a wide recognition of the significance of chance meetings and random events, and a renowned openness to new experiences, opportunities and people. This is characterised by the expansive and generous nature of the phrase 'cead mile failte'.

Slate is 500 million years in the making. This wall hanging is created using handcut, natural ancient slate. Every slate is unique in shape, meaning no piece will be exactly the same. The artwork is hand drawn by artist Lynda Cruise.
