Belleek Footed Bowl
Belleek Footed Bowl. This Echinus Footed Bowl is part of Belleek's 150th Anniversary Archive Collection. It measures 8.5" (21.5cm) high. Only 350 pieces were made and each is numbered and stamped with the special 150th mark.
This interesting covered bowl was designed as part of the Prince of Wales Dessert Service and represents the first major commission Belleek received from the Royal Family. It gave Belleek powerful recognition and a boost to it's prestige. Afterwards, commissions from influential people flooded in and greatly enhanced sales, establishing the reputation of Belleek.
Robert Armstrong patented these designs which were registered on September 6th, 1868. The Echinus Footed Bowl was discontinued from sale in the 1920s.
