Fair Trade
As the Celtic population in Ireland grew new centres of trade and learning emerged. Founded by St. Ciaran, Clonmacnoise in Ireland, was one such centre. This particular design of interlacing human figures is from Clonmacnoise and has been depicted in the Book of Kells.
It is said to represent bartering borne from the fact that the participants are obviously engaged in fierce negotiation. The interlacing in this design reminds us of the essential need for human interaction and the importance of fair trade.
The pile yarn is 80% wool/20% acrylic and the weight is 95oz sq. yd.
