Loyalty
To the Celt, the most valued companion was the wolfhound, or 'Cú'. Noted for its great size, it was used to hunt large game and it's said that the wolfhound even pulled men from horseback in battle. One of the most famous legends tell of Cú Chulainn, who was born Setanta, but changed his name after accidentally killing the wolfhound of the smith, Culann. He vowed to take the place of the wolfhound, guarding the pass into Ulster and thus became known as the hound of Culann. Enjoy the splendour of this design.
