Gallen Priory Cross
Wildgoose Gallen Priory Cross from 10th Century carving. The myth and symbol caught in this design, timeless and extraordinarily powerful, is based on a 10th Century stone carving found in the quiet garden of the priory. The cryptic symbolism is interpreted as follows (also appears on the label that comes on the back of the cross):
"Humankind, standing on reason, wrestles with unconscious energy. . at centre a sun spiral - the life source. . uncoiling serpents - the unconscious . four heads - Adam & Eve, Cain & Abel . linear pattern at base - reason/science . spiral circle joining heads- unity, harmony, and love."
6.5" high.
This Wild Goose Studio piece comes in cast iron or bronze as shown. Cast iron pieces are for indoor use only. Bronze pieces can be placed outdoors where they will acquire a green patina over time.
